Final Fantasy x Magic: the Gathering is right around the corner, and this set is expected to be massive. After all, we sold nearly our entire preorder allocation in less than two hours. Because of this, things are going to run a little differently to ensure we’re able to give everyone an even shot at what we have left to sell on Prerelease Friday.

NOTE: Gift Bundles don't release until Friday 27 June 2025. If you only preordered a Gift Bundle, you won't be able to pick it up until then.

1. There is additional stock available

We didn’t put everything we were allocated up for sale (and honestly, thank god we did this… our numbers got cut after this). We purposefully leave some of our stock off the preorders to account for last-minute cuts, damaged stock, product not arriving, whatever. It means we will have some product available for you to purchase on prerelease Friday.

In saying that though, today we found out that our primary supplier decided to split our order across two seperate stock shipments without giving us a heads up. That means we may not have any Commander decks available to sell until three weeks from now. Once we have them, we'll let you know, and we'll make sure we run a similar in-store purchase window to ensure our community gets first crack at them.

2. Products will only be available for in-store purchase or pickups until Monday

Final Fantasy x Magic: the Gathering products will only be available to purchase in-store from open. Then, at 1pm on Friday 6 June, any remaining stock we have will become available online BUT it will only be available for In-Store Pickup. Then if, and only if, we have any remaining product on Monday morning, shipping for them will be turned on and you’ll be able to order and have it shipped to you.

3. There will be purchase limits on all Final Fantasy x Magic: the Gathering trading card products

Due to the limited availability, all Final Fantasy x Magic: the Gathering products will have sale limits. Currently they are as follows:

  • Play Booster Boxes - 2x per customer
  • Individual Play Boosters – 30x per customer (or 1x full unsealed box)
  • Collector Box – 1x per customer
  • Individual Collector Boosters – 12x per customer (or 1x full unsealed box)
  • Bundle - 1x per customer
  • Gift Bundle - 1x per customer (Releasing Friday 27 June 2025 - Will be available for in-store pickup only until Monday 30 June 2025 )
  • Commander Decks - 1x of each deck per customer (Extra Product Delayed - Will be available for in-store pickup only until the Monday after it arrives)
  • Collector Commander Decks - 1x of each deck per customer

4. There will be a dedicated queue set up before opening

Each store will have a taped queue area out the front of the store for you to line up ahead of open on Friday 6 June. This queue will be important as, if there is a queue, the only people who will be able to buy Final Fantasy x Magic: the Gathering product will be those in the queue. Anyone coming to the store for anything but Final Fantasy x Magic: the Gathering products will be able to enter freely but we will not be selling it to anyone who hasn’t lined up in that queue, if there is one. This ensures we serve everyone fairly based on how long they’ve been waiting and no one can sneak ahead by coming in for Warhammer and picking up a commander deck while they’re there.

5. Friday Night Magic events will be ticketed for the entire season

Because we’re expecting a decent turnout over the Friday Night Magic season, we’re implementing a ticketing system while we’re running Final Fantasy x Magic: the Gathering drafts. We will also schedule the availability of these tickets throughout the season. Tickets for each event will go live in-store at 7pm the week prior, and online at 10pm the week prior.

This means that tickets for the Launch Draft event happening on Friday 13 June will be available to purchase in-store from 7pm on Friday 6 June, and online from 10pm on Friday 6 June.

Once tickets sell out, anyone who shows up on the night for a spot will go on a waitlist to fill any empty spots from people not showing up to the event. If you end up on the waitlist, we cannot guarantee a spot at the event but we will ensure we get you in if someone doesn’t show up.

6. The Prize Structure at our weekly events will change slightly

Firstly, there will be no change to the price of events outside of draft. Yes the boosters cost more but we’re eating the cost a little for the seven weeks of this set.

Final Fantasy x Magic: the Gathering Play Boosters are a little more expensive than regular boosters, but not twice the price like usual supplemental sets. Because of this, there will be a change to how prizes will be handed out.

The FIRST booster handed out as a prize to anyone at any weekly event that we traditionally give play boosters out at (Commander, Pioneer, Standard) can be a Final Fantasy x Magic: the Gathering Play booster (if we have any available). Any additional booster after this must be of a non-Final Fantasy x Magic: the Gathering standard/premier set play booster.

So, for commander nights, if we have them in stock, everyone at the table gets a Final Fantasy x Magic: the Gathering Play Booster, and then the bonus booster can be any standard-legal play or set booster we have in the display cabinet EXCEPT for Final Fantasy.

That should be all the info you need to know ahead of the release this week. We can’t wait to see you this weekend!
