Store Update: Singles are coming back...Kinda
Trading Card Singles are coming back to Vault! But not quite how we used to do them. From Friday 30 May, you’ll be able to grab single cards from the new Disney Lorcana Set, Reign of Jafar, from the Clayfield store.
How does it work?
Tim at the Clayfield store has cracked open a bunch of boxes and priced them into a Binder and a Bulk Box. Prices are set based on current values and will be revised every few weeks based on market movements. The entire system is run entirely within our current point-of-sale so whatever method you use to pay at the stores is what will be accepted.
Will you be able to sell singles to the store?
At the moment, no. We’re still trialling out the system and the point of it is to make it simple for us to process, and simple for you to buy.
Will you be able to use discounts?
No. We're still trying to price these cards competitively so, because of that, discounts will not be available on Trading Card Singles.
What about the Chaff Boxes? Does this mean they’re going away?
They’ll still be there. Many of the commons we open or are left behind by other members of the community will still end up in the chaff boxes. You will always be able to drop by and look through them for the commons you need to build out your deck.
Are we doing more than just Lorcana? What about the Brisbane City store?
Again, for now, no. Based on how this experiment goes over the release weekend, we may extend this system to include Magic: the Gathering and Star Wars: Unlimited as new sets are released, and also, to the Brisbane City store as well.
Do we have a specific card in stock?
Honestly, we don’t know. Our team members handling the collection is the fastest way for this system to not be worthwhile for the store. The binder and bulk box will be available for you to peruse so drop by to see if we have what you’re looking for.
Why are we doing this?
We wanted to trial a simpler way of handling trading card singles. No separate online system. No complex store credit tracking. Just a binder and a box for you to look through and grab cards from with the prices clearly visible. Because Vault is a broad hobby store and not a dedicated card shop, not everyone on our team can easily identify cards and prices so this system allows you to buy cards you’re looking for while letting us hire team members who specialise in different pieces of the tabletop hobby.
