Three Cozy Board Games to Cuddle Up With This Weekend!

Seeking out some chill games to cuddle up with? These games have come hot onto Vault Games shelves, and make the perfect addition to a night spent in with games and calm vibes! These three games are all different kinds, from meditative stacking games, to considered and mindful tile placement, and even some worker placement and push your luck card play! There something cozy for everyone so settle in, take a sip of your beverage of choice (I’ve got a peppermint tea, myself) and lets get into what makes these games chill.

A Gentle Rain

A Gentle Rain has a simple goal; your are placing tiles to create a lake on which lilies bloom. Placing four tiles together, with lilies of matching colours on their edge, makes a flower bloom - with the goal to try and find all eight colours of lotuses. This simple, meditative experience is heightened by playing gentle rain sounds on your phone while you pick and place tiles, and can be played solo or with up to as many players as you like (though, if you play with more, I tend to lean cooperatively - there's no way to score against each other). I find A Gentle Rain a lovely unwinding game for when I want to prioritise thoughtfulness, and a little quiet time off my phone. The rules are so simple that anyone can pick it up and play, and if the luck of the tiles doesn’t work out, its simple enough to reset and try again. A nice little pocket-sized box of meditation, just right for any gamer.

Catch the Moon

If you’re looking for something with a little more complexity, but thoughtful placement, Catch the Moon is an excellent choice! A dexterity stacking game in which players roll the dice to determine how to lay their next ladder, constantly shifting the stack everyone is building. Careful, considered placement goes a long way here, but luck also comes into play. Any player who crumbles the structure gains a raindrop, and the player with the least raindrops by the end is the winner.

Tea Witches

Tea Witches is a worker placement game, where-in you run a teashop during the Teaquinox Faire. Your goal is to serve tea to as many witches as possible, collecting different kinds of tea to serve at the market with your teapup - a little living kettle who holds and serves tea for all your guests. With different shops to visit, different ways to build out the layout of your own tea cart (as you play you draw tiles which allow you to swap the kinds of tea you produce, hold more tea, or generate extra coins to splurge on tea related goods to improve your cart!) and lots of different customers, Tea Witches has a cute and cozy vibe that lovers of slightly more advanced worker and tile placement gamers will love. If you like the feeling of crafting the perfect little tea collecting shop, or pushing your luck to draw more customers (each of whom are beautifully and whimsically designed) Tea Witches is a must try game! This is one to settle in with, with a two hour playing time that can blow out longer if you play with more players. A game with enough mechanics to sink your teeth into, while taking time to enjoy with a cupful of tea.
